The skybus airline was a private airline. It was bases in the cities of Columbus, Ohio in United States of America. It was very much based on the European airline Ryanair and operated as an ultra low cost carrier. There were aimed to be the least expensive airline of the United States of America. Skybus airline base model had focussed more on flying to those routes where generally there were no direct flights. This concept was quite similar to the one applied by Ryanair in Europe. Thus concpet made it easy to schedule and handle flights as there was not much rush on these airports and so the air line don’t have to face a great deal of competetion.

This business model also urged skybus airline to advertise on the exterior and interior of the air craft along with selling the merchandise goods on board. Skybus airline applied for the approval on the date of 1 January in 2005. The airline got the approval for work in the year of 2006 on 15 March. Skybus airline also got the FAA certificate on 10 May, 2007. the air line got the confirmation for the sales of the ticket from 24 April,2007. skybus airline operated their first flight which has flown out of Columbus on 22 May,2007. After less than a year of its operations, skybus airline announced to cease its operations on 4th of April,2008. They said that there operations would be ceased from 5th April and the major reason was rising prices of fuel and lagging economy.

So skybus airline started its operations on 2004 and ceased them in 2008, 5 April. The major hub is at Columbus along with the secondary hub at Piedmont Triad International Airport. The fleet size of the air line was 12 and they had 63 confirmed orders at the time of their shut down. Skybus airline covered 17 destinations  through out United States of America and the main slogan of the company was that only birds can fly cheaper, as they were offering very low cost air fares.

The first flight of the air line which did not have Columbus as end point began in 17 December, 2007, this was the time when the skybus airline started their flights between St. Augustine and Portsmouth along with Punt Gorda in Florida. Skybus airline announced that they are eliminating their service to San Diego Bellingham on 16 October,2007 and also cutting one flight from there schedule to Burbank.  As it was becoming difficult for company to rsume their services so they ceased their operations in 2008.
