The official name of the airline is Korean airline, it operates from its headquarters in Seoul, Korea. Korean airlines were established in March of 1969. The major areas of business for Korean airline include cargo, passenger, catering, Aerospace, In-Flight sales and Hotel. The air transport company was introduced in Korea with the establishment of private Korean National Airlines in the year of 1948. thai air operated on 13 domestic destinations along with 38 international destinations catering to 103 cities and in total airline is serving to 39 countries and 118 cities.
However, there have been problems in the starting years of air line establishment. In 1962 Korean National Airline went bankrupt. The major factors that contributed towards this factor include insufficient demand for air traffic, its unmanaged airline skills and technology, the inability to compete with foreign carriers. Korean airlines were then founded again in the year of 1962, this time it served as intergovernmental enterprise. Although this time airline managed to have some success as it expanded on international routes and also maintaining to buy new air crafts. But this time again this intergovernmental effort failed due to lack of management skills. Korean air was established again in March of 1969, but this time as an independent and privatized firm. This time the airline has grown at an immense rapid rate, as in almost 35 years it has grown 150 times and it is highly expected that this growth will continue in next millennium also.
The fleet of Korean airways include latest state of the art technology air crafts, that include 21 Boeing 747-400, 1 Boeing 747-400 (Combi), 18 Boeing 777-200ER, 1 Boeing 777-300ER, 4 Boeing 777-300, 3 Airbus 330-200, 16 Airbus 330-300, 8 Airbus 300-600, 14 Boeing 737-800 and 16 Boeing 737-900.
There have been many landmarks and major achievements to the credit of Korean airline. The airline was awarded with the gold medal in the corporate section by 2008 Advertisement awards given by ATW organization. Korean air was also awarded with the best HRD award in the category of Human resource development. The airline has opened new service of internet chatting along with mobile text messaging and chatting consultation services. The airline has also received two Freddie Awards which were sponsored by U.S publication Inside Flyer. Korean airlines have launched some more long distance additional flights that include flights to Seoul, Incheon, Sao Paolo and Munich. The airline has also started services to Germany and Brazil. Korean airline has got the honor of getting the world ranking number one position for the past 4 years continuously. The air line has made its mark in the industry and it is flourishing more with every passing day.
