After First World War in 1919, people showed keen interest in traveling to/from Europe. At that time ba airways along with AT & T (Aircraft Transport and Travel), started the first service of scheduled flights. It was the first one of its kind in world. Initially they started their services from London to Paris. Just after five years from this, there were many airlines offering their services from Britain. Four major air companies of that time which were Instone, Handley Page, AT & T and British Air Marine Navigation all merged in to one larger company which was named as Imperial Airways, in March 1942. They started services around the whole British Empire. Imperial Airways grew very rapidly in size and became the indication of a modern airline. They started to offer flights for all over the world.

British airway was formed in 1935, it came into existence with the mergence of many small air companies. Soon british air became on the leading air companies of that time. In 1939, British Government nationalized these two air companies and formed one new agency which was named as British Overseas Airways Corp. In 1949, there came another major change when British Overseas Airways separated in to two companies. One was named as British European Airways and other was called BOAC. British European Airways operated short haul flights in to Europe and BOAC served the rest of the world.

In 1970, Government felt that the two companies cannot bear the rising costs of fuel and other expenditures so they were combined to form one new company after four years. That company was named as british airways.

British airline is a completely global airline. British airways flights offer low fares throughout the year. British airways have an extensive route of networks to fly to and from in the whole world with their centrally located airports.

In recent past years ba airways have to face the fine of half-billion dollars for artificially overestimating the ticket prices. When the airline was found guilty then it was the right of passengers to demand their compensation amount. As a result british airways have to face the penalty of 543 million dollars, which was fined by Great Britain Management and US Ministry of Justice. British airlines are continuing their services after the dispute.
