Aegean airlines started there services with their mark on industry as in the starting years of Aegean airline that is in 1992 they were the first private airline to get the air operator’s certificate in Greece. In the year of 1994, Aegean Aviation was united with the Vassilakis Group of Companies. They also made investments in the new world of Lear jet to provide the services of chartered flights all around the world. Aegean airlines were established in the year of 1999 in the month of March. In the same year of 1999, aegian airlines started their flights to Heraklion and Thessaloniki from Athens. Two brand new air crafts JET AVRO RJ 100 were set to fly on this rout, these aircrafts were established by BAE Systems (British Aerospace). The air crafts are powered by 4 silent jet engines to provide high quality services with comfort and speed to their passengers. In the June of 1999, Aegean airlines now fly to 2 new destinations that are Rhodes and Chania.
In the October of 1999, a new air craft Avro RJ was added to the fleet which was the third one of its kind. Also in the same year three new destinations were covered by the flights of Aegean airlines which are Corfu, Alexandroupolis and Kavala. In the December of 1999, Air Greece was acquired by Aegean airline. In this year the fleet of the airline consisted of 4 brand new RJ and 3 ATR 72. Aegean airways also started there flights to Ioannina and Mitilini in the same year of 1999. In the May of 2000, Aegean airline continued their journey of success and catered to 11 destinations and the 11th one was Santorini.
In July 2000, Aegean airline has added two brand new AVRO RJ 100 to their fleet. As for now Aegean aircrafts are flying to whole Greece and providing their services with more than 80 flights which cover 11 cities in the whole Greece. You can have great flight with best air crafts like AVRO RJ 100 and the 3 ATR 72 and have comfortable journey on their leather seats.
In the April of 2001, Aegean airlines joined their forces with Cronus Airlines. The whole network of airline covers 11 destinations in Greece and in total they cater to 7 international destinations with their flights. In the November of 2001, Aegean airline have launched their services of business class on all international flights along with their domestic ones. In the October of 2003, Aegean airways started the new service of e-ticket which is a paperless ticket that you can book online, ticket is booked and issued at the same time to customers. Aegean airline is the first airline to offer e-ticket in Greek airlines and still it is the only airline of Greece to offer this service.
In January 2009, Aegean airline has signed a code share program for the route of Brussels and Athens which is another achievement to the credit of Aegean airlines.
