Sovereign Bank is a subsidiary of Sovereign Bancorp, Inc. Sovereign Bank has 750 community banking branches and 2300 ATM’s. It also has 12,000 members on its team that made it a big success. As per the rankings in the United States of America, it is the 19th largest financial institution in the country. It offers a wide range of services including cash and wealth management, insurance and retail, business and corporate banking.  

The Sovereign Bank Arena is also known as the Mercer County Arena. It is a $53 million, 8,500 seat arena in Trenton, New Jersey.  The Sovereign Bank Arena is home to the Trenton Devils of the ECHL and other special events. It will be home to the New Jersey Kings of the American Indoor Football Association in 2010. The naming rights to the Sovereign Bank Arena were bought by Sovereign Bank.

Global Spectrum manages the Sovereign Bank arena. It is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based arm of sports and entertainment conglomerate Comcast-Spectacor. The Sovereign Bank Arena has a seating space of almost 8,600 for basketball, 8,100 for hockey and other ice events, and up to 10,500 for family shows, concerts and other events making it the largest arena in Southern New Jersey. It is located next to, and served by, the Hamilton Avenue station on NJ Transit's River Line and New Jersey Route 129.

The Sovereign Bank Arena was opened on October 6, 1999. The first event that Sovereign Bank Arena hosted was a World Wrestling Entertainment. Since its opening, the Sovereign Bank Arena has hosted about 1200 events which were attended by over 4,000,000 guests. It has sold out shows by Bruce Springsteen, Cher, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Britney Spears, Keith Urban, Elton John, Shania Twain, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The 2008 Total Nonstop Action Wrestling Pay-Per-View "Hard Justice" was hosted by the Sovereign Bank Arena.

The Sovereign Bank arena also held the first and second rounds of the 2006 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament.  The 2000 and 2001 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournaments were also held at the Sovereign Bank Arena and the 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament as well. The finals of the Trenton Regional in the 2009 NCAA women's tournament were held the Sovereign Bank Arena as well.

The Sovereign Bank has been involved in many charitable activities. One of the most mentionable regular activities is Sovereign Bank Charity Golf Classic. The returns of the 2007 event were used to provide support to Forsgate Foundation and Regional & Local Charities. Apart from this, in the 2008 great tragedy of fire at the City of Lawrence, the Sovereign bank $25,000 donation to the Eagle Tribune Fund. The horrible fire caused a massive loss of human lives and property. In order to help the people of Lawrence, the Sovereign Bank offered its services. Along with the donation to the Eagle Tribute Fund, it has also started a loan pool in collaboration with the State Treasurer, Timothy P. Cahill.

The loan pool is started with 5 million dollars. This activity was started to provide relief to the victims and it was available to all. The mentionable and appreciable part of the whole activity was that the loan was available below the market rate so the victims are not over burdened with it. Not only this, the sovereign bank had a Sovereign Economic Disaster Assistance Team. They activated this Sovereign Economic Disaster Assistance Team for assisting the loan procedure. This team provided technical assistance to the business owners who have suffered from the tragic fire, in applying for the loan. The Sovereign Bank also established a Disaster Relief Resource Center. This Disaster Relief Resource Center was established at Lawrence Public Library. The Sovereign Economic Disaster Assistance Team was available at the Disaster Relief Resource Center to help the applicants in filing application.
