In this fast paced business world things are changing every second. Therefore it is becoming harder for companies to compete and maintain their position let alone growing their business. Economic conditions are worsening day by day. Companies are using every method and trick for their survival. One such business entity is Capital One Bank.
Capital One Bank is a subsidiary of Capital One Financial Corporation which basically deals in credit cards, loans and savings and was founded in Richmond Virginia in the year 1988. Recently Capital One Bank has opened its new full-service branch in Brooklyn which offers the local residents a broad range of financial services. Like other companies Capital One Bank is involved in community service to make its position stronger among the customers. Therefore, the new branch is located at 858 Fulton Street which is situated in an area chosen by the New York State Banking Department as a Banking Development District (BDD). It is a program designed to help provide banking services to underserved neighborhoods across New York City. Capital One Bank focuses on working with local residents, government, and community organizations for the promotion of long-term economic development and community revitalization in Brooklyn.
Capital One Bank is engaged in many community service activities that are bringing great benefit to the society. One such activity by the Capital One Bank is sponsoring the Children’s Parade initiated by the Children's Medical Center Dallas and The Adolphus as a gift to the community. First parade was held in the year 1988. Capital One Bank Adolphus Children's Parade draws crowds of more than 350,000 as it is sponsoring the parade of 2009.
The most notable community service by the Capital One Bank is providing facility of new and revitalized library in New Jersey. Capital One Bank is doing this project named READesigned Library in collaboration with the Heart of America Foundation in New Jersey City. Heart of America Foundation is a non profit organization which identifies, every year, schools across the country in need of a READesign. The purpose of this project is to help children across the country to learn to read. There were more than 75 volunteers from the Capital One Bank who participated in the project. They spent two days on the renovation including new paint, new shelving and new work space for children and teachers. Capital One Bank donated over 1,000 new, high-quality library books for the library, and more than 3,800 books for the home libraries of the students; each student will receive five new books to take home to start their own libraries.
The redesign has changed the library by humanizing the layout and design, redecorating the space, providing new furniture and replenishing book shelves. The program also tries to renew community support for the powerful impact of literacy. The program is also providing children with popular classic and modern titles for their school and home libraries. Capital One Bank has sponsored and provided volunteers at 11 READesign projects across the country.
These are just few examples of how companies are making contributions to the community. These corporations grow on the community; they need human resource for making a success story. But the human resource they need, need to be nurtured and trained at the grass root level. Otherwise there would come a time when there would not be enough qualified and competent to fill in the positions of the retiring personnel. This is their duty to give back in double what they are taking from the community. Companies are going green to save environment, they are producing environment friendly products. They are even teaching consumers how to save environment and the whole world through different activities.
