The concept has been around since the mid 90’s. Functioning CMS systems followed within a year. By year 2000 even clients with small to mid-sized websites were inquiring. And now you can’t throw a digital stick without hitting at least one Content Management System. Some of the popular names include Joomla, PostNuke, Drupal, and many others. Today I would like to discuss some of the concepts of a CMS. As a webmaster, I share a methodology with the folks who produce radio or television. I am using what is basically a one-way medium. Just like the local radio or television station that broadcasts it’s signal and hopes that everyone tunes in, I publish various content that is available for everyone or no one to view. Obviously I am hoping for the former over the latter, but reality is somewhere in the middle. And just where in the middle is what I need to know. Which content is generating traffic and which is just taking up space? Limbo is a great party game, its played by seeing who is the most flexible with the best balance by bending over backward and shuffling under a horizontal bar. Too bad we sit at desks all day bent the other way, making us terrible at this particular game… Then again, I’d like to see any of your fellow party-goers do the Flash/HTML limbo!
